ROAD RIDING..

Team DRT/Deep Blue Racing Team has two scheduled group rides each week. These rides are intended for team building, camaraderie, and introduction of new riders to the sport, IN ADDITION TO some good training.

Anyone and everyone is invited to join the rides. If you love to ride your bicycle and live in the Greater Wilmington Area, we encourage you to Contact Us for more information before joining the ride, just to let someone know you're coming and you're ability level.

All rides leave from the Toscana To Go, Trolley Square parking lot and proceed up Rt. 52 towards PA. Rides leave as scheduled so please come prepared to leave ON TIME.

Monday Night Beginner Rides at 6PM. Leaving from HAC (Hockessin Athletic Club) bottom parking lot. Easy pace, less hills than last weeks ride. 1 - 1 1/2 hours of riding. Contact Chuck for more information.

Tuesday night rides are BACK for 2008: Thanks to early DST, the Tuesday night rides are back. Depart time 5:30. (depart time will get later as the summer gets closer) Click for the route map...

Thursday TT / Tri-workouts at Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 6PM!!!
Mark your calendars... 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month - 6PM.... Piranha won't know what hit'em. We'll meet at the Cemetery for a warm-up and then start our TTs with the option to run the course (1k per loop) afterwards or staying on the bike for another round (approx. 8 miles out and back). This will be a great interval workout for anyone on the team, so plan to join us and pass the word. No pressure to keep up - it's a TT. you versus the clock!! Click here for a map to the cemetery. Contact Ashley for more information.

Saturday morning rides:

General Ride Guidelines:

  • Safety FIRST! While we all want to train hard, we need to live to train another day.
  • We have a strict 'no one gets left behind' policy. A representative of the team will bring up the rear of the group to make sure everyone is ok.
  • Each ride starts with warm up. The 6 mile portion from Toscana to Winterthur is done at a pedestrian pace to allow for the whole group to get safely out of the city. The group will then split into an "A" group and a "B" group. Please place yourself in the category that matches your ability.
  • Many riders will tag along with the "A" group until they can't take it any longer and then fall back into the "B" group. This is perfectly acceptable.
  • Yellow line rule is in effect! No one on the ride should cross the yellow line.

MOUNTAIN RIDING..

Team DRT/Deep Blue Racing Team also has an active group of mountain bikers. This group rides the trails in the area of the next mountain bike race in order to get a change of pace in addition to familiarizing the team with the course terrain.

In preparation for our next racing, the group changes the weekly ride to wherever the upcoming race is. Contact Brad for more info.
