Jason Gundel, 1972 – 1999

Jason Gundel was a top-level bicycle mechanic, enthusiast and racer at Dunbar’s Cyclery who died in September of 1999 at the age of 27. Throughout his life, he embraced the cycling community by helping bicycle racers and recreational riders alike in all levels of the sport. He also raced with the Dunbar’s Racing Team, the organizer and promoter of the event. In 2000, Jason was honored for his long-time support of the Annual Patterson Schwartz / MS 150 Bike to the Bay, a fund-raising event that benefits the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Delaware.

We couldn’t think of a better way to honor our friend, Jason, than to run this event in his memory. It seems only fitting, given how much Jason contributed to the sport of cycling, which was such an important part of his life.
